Ingredients
  

For the Steak Patties

  • 1 lb ground beef preferably 85% lean
  • 1/3 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

For the Mushroom Gravy

  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 medium onion thinly sliced
  • 8 oz mushrooms sliced
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth low sodium
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Instructions
 

  • In a bowl, mix together ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until well combined. Shape into 4 oval patties.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the patties and sear 3–4 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, melt butter. Add onions and mushrooms and sauté for 5–6 minutes until softened.
  • Sprinkle flour over the veggies and cook, stirring, for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a simmer and cook until thickened, about 3–4 minutes.
  • Return patties to the skillet, cover, and simmer for 10–12 minutes, until fully cooked through. Serve hot with mashed potatoes or rice.

Notes

For even richer flavor, add a splash of red wine to the gravy. Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days.
