Ingredients
  

Chicken

  • 1.5 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil for frying

Sesame Sauce

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce low sodium preferred
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water (slurry)
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger grated
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds plus extra for garnish
  • 2 green onions sliced for garnish

Instructions
 

  • In a bowl, coat chicken pieces in beaten eggs, then dredge in cornstarch until well coated.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Fry chicken pieces in batches until golden and crispy. Set aside on paper towels.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and cornstarch slurry.
  • Pour sauce into a clean skillet and simmer until thickened, about 3–4 minutes.
  • Add fried chicken to the sauce and toss to coat evenly. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions.
  • Serve hot over steamed rice or with stir-fried vegetables.

Notes

You can make the sauce ahead of time and refrigerate. Adjust sweetness or heat by altering honey and adding red pepper flakes if desired.
