Ingredients
  

  • 1 package angel food cake cut into cubes
  • 1 can cherry pie filling (21 ounces)
  • 1 package instant vanilla pudding mix (3.4 ounces)
  • 1 1/2 cups milk cold
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 container whipped topping like Cool Whip (8 oz), thawed
  • 2 tbsp almonds sliced or slivered, optional topping

Instructions
 

  • In a 9x13-inch dish, spread half of the cubed angel food cake in an even layer.
  • Spoon half of the cherry pie filling over the cake cubes.
  • Top with the remaining cake cubes.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together pudding mix, milk, and sour cream until smooth and thickened (about 2 minutes).
  • Spread the pudding mixture evenly over the cake.
  • Top with the remaining cherry pie filling and spread the whipped topping over the entire surface.
  • Sprinkle with sliced almonds if desired. Chill for at least 4 hours or overnight before serving.

Notes

Feel free to substitute the cherry pie filling with blueberry, raspberry, or strawberry pie filling for variety. You can also use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream for a lighter version.
