Ingredients
  

Beef & Marinade

  • 1 lb flank steak or sirloin thinly sliced against the grain
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce low sodium preferred
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp mirin or rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger grated

Optional Garnish

  • toasted sesame seeds
  • chopped green onions

Instructions
 

  • In a bowl, mix soy sauce, brown sugar, mirin, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger to create the marinade.
  • Add the sliced beef to the marinade, tossing to coat. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  • Thread marinated beef strips onto skewers, folding as needed.
  • Preheat grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grates.
  • Grill skewers for 2–3 minutes per side, until nicely charred and cooked through.
  • Remove from grill and garnish with sesame seeds and green onions if desired. Serve hot.

Notes

If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes to prevent burning. Serve over rice or with a side of grilled veggies for a complete meal.
