Ingredients
  

For the Steak

  • 4 cube steaks about 1/2 inch thick
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil for frying

For the Gravy

  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour use leftover oil and bits from frying
  • 1.5 cups milk warm
  • 1/4 tsp salt to taste
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • Season the cube steaks with salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
  • Set up a dredging station: flour in one bowl, and a mixture of eggs and milk in another.
  • Dredge each steak in flour, then in egg mixture, then back in the flour, pressing to coat well.
  • Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Fry steaks 3–4 minutes per side, until golden brown. Remove and set on paper towels.
  • Drain excess oil, leaving about 2 tablespoons in the skillet. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in milk, stirring constantly until thickened. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Serve steaks hot with gravy poured over the top.

Notes

Great with mashed potatoes or buttered corn on the side. Make sure to pound steaks evenly for consistent frying.
