Equipment

  • Large Pot
  • Wooden Spoon

Ingredients

For the Goulash

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 medium yellow onion diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 lb ground beef lean
  • 1 can tomato sauce (15 oz)
  • 1 can diced tomatoes (14.5 oz)
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp salt or to taste
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper or to taste
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni uncooked
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese optional, for serving

Instructions

  • Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add diced onion and sauté for 3–4 minutes until softened. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 more minute.
  • Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain excess fat if needed.
  • Stir in tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
  • Add elbow macaroni and stir. Cover and cook for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed.
  • Remove from heat, stir in shredded cheese if using, and let sit for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

This goulash can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Add a splash of broth or water when reheating to restore moisture.
