This classic American Goulash is a comforting, one-pot dish made with ground beef, elbow macaroni, and a rich tomato sauce. It’s hearty, flavorful, and perfect for weeknight dinners.
Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add diced onion and sauté for 3–4 minutes until softened. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 more minute.
Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain excess fat if needed.
Stir in tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
Add elbow macaroni and stir. Cover and cook for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed.
Remove from heat, stir in shredded cheese if using, and let sit for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
This goulash can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Add a splash of broth or water when reheating to restore moisture.
